Lisa, who lives here in all of our computers, has gone to all the effort of putting together this great learning opportunity for parents. I am posting it for anyone who might be lurking around, struggling with a child in need of support, help and direction. The details follow:
Katharine Leslie is going to be doing a webinar. May 18th. 10 AM to 11:30 AM CST. $30.00 Grab all your fellow Radical mom's, invite them over for tea and split the cost. Continuing education credits will be issued if you need/want them. Dr. Leslie presents at Attach every year and gets rave reviews. Also a parent to radicals which gives her big stars in my book. ;-) She doesn't just "get it", she lives it.
Parenting from the Trenches

I had this brilliant idea just this moment while unloading the dishwasher!!
ReplyDeleteWhy don't you let your friends and readers "take shares" in your BC Training course? i.e. promise ahead of time some sort of phone or e-mail coaching! I know several moms who might love some phone coaching but who can't afford it.
You could be a sort of BC Endentured Servant!
What do you think--good idea for PAP's or wait 'till they're home?
ReplyDeleteAnnie I would need WAY more confidence to pull that off! Great idea but I would keep myself up at night worrying if I screwed someone up and wrecked their kid forever! What if they thought that I was way totally not worth it after? OI! I am planning for Virginia in September now btw.
ReplyDeleteKate, thats a good question and I thought about it all day cuz I just could not decide one way or the other. I think the more education the better off you will be, but there is so much that has to be experienced first hand. Like, you have to know what answer you are looking for to be able to form a question. Hope that makes sense. If you are stretched for $, I would wait. If you feel you might need to take in some ideas to have ready when d2b arrives, then go for it.
It makes perfect sense. I tend to think that I've got a broad enough knowledge base that I'd recognize a problem. (But maybe I'm wrong...which is why I thought about doing this...)
ReplyDeleteAnd, you made my point for me--I think this might be something where you have to be already living it to know what you need from it.
So I still don't know what I'll do.
Katherine Leslie is by far the most abusive woman I have ever met. As a child that went through her therapy system, I have endured years of therapy dealing with the trauma caused by her techniques. I understand parenting a child that isn't yours can be difficult as I have adopted one of my own. I would never put my child through the things I went through with this deranged woman. Once I find the laws in NC I will press charges on her for the years of emotional abuse. I had my hair pulled, was sat on, and belittled multiple times. Life is so short and your child has gone through so much already. Don't do this to your child
ReplyDeleteOh gosh, I'm so sorry that happened to you!
DeleteI did not actually attend the webinar, I put up the notice at the request of a friend.
I appreciate your perspective, and will definitely remember as I look through books and treatments!
