Reason #719

Reason #769 why I can never be a cool parent with these children. Why I will never be the cool parent I assumed I would be.

What is that festering stick laying on the floor you ask?

Why, it's a lollipop! It's a lollipop festering on the floor of the closet of my girls! How on earth did that happen? I let the girls have a lollipop each one day but I know I said to throw it away when it is finished. I KNOW I never said put in on the floor in your closet.

And oh my gracious, what is THAT bit of nastiness?

Why yes, it IS an ant!

See, the nice thing about that picture is that when the ants heard I was coming back with my camera they all scurried their little selves off.....somewhere else and left this one to die alone. Before I warned them I was coming back there were probably 15 ants feeding off this thing.

However.

Ya know, if you can't beat 'em, join 'em. I stuck a couple of ant killing bait traps in there with the lollipop. Normally no self respecting ant I have ever met would be caught with its pants down near a bait trap, but this appears to be one powerful lollipop.

You might be interested to know that no one did this. Mmmm hmmm, I thought that was strange too. But my children do not lie and they both insisted they are not responsible. So. That's all I know.

  1. How does "Nobody" make it from my house to your house so quickly. He must have some crazy frequent flier miles.

  2. D said it ever so well. Nobody is rocking the frequent flier miles. He needs to share cause I could use some. :)

  3. What do you mean, "who"? It's obvious the ants marched in, took the lollipop, and settled down for a feast. They're friends of the sock eating trolls and the faries that keep moving the scissiors.

  4. Well, it's interesting that "nobody" did it in your house because according to my little anxiously attached cherub, I-the Mom, am responsible for EVERYTHING that would not be right with the world. I'll take "nobody"!

    Cinnamon repels ants.

  5. hey nobody is here too, he gets a lot in a short amount of time, I wish I had time management skills like that.
Ants are really strong, i am sure that they ahuled that sucker right out of some poor kids hand when they were not looking.

  6. I have a feeling that the same "unknown" who is responsible for the lollipop incident also leaves half-eaten sandwiches in the backpacks of middle-school kids over the weekend.....

I must say, however, that your "cool mom" status is elevated in my mind because you give your sweeties lollipops!! So keeping your cool is one thing, but BEING cool is another!

  7. Maybe your husband did it? lol.

  8. Nobody gets some crazy stuff accomplished over here in loo-loo land too. Frankly I can't say I am all that crazy about Mr. Nobody and yet he keeps coming back over here!

I am going with Rachel on this one though, I say blame the husband!

  9. just to keep my list straight, is this reason 719 or 769? ;> Those kidlings have also messed up your count.

Personally, I don't think this has any impact on your coolness factor. Those ratings remain constant in the face of ants. And, from what I hear, "nobody" thinks you're cool. ;> (See--you're cool!)

  10. p.s. I agree with "nobody".

(And am hoping this reads as marginally clever and not snarky. No snark intended. But am a liiiiiittle tired and may be off on my cleverometer.)

  11. omg Kate, you and your inflexible rigid math idea's, lol!

I always assume on the side of clever/funny/sarcastic. Which means I may be getting insulted regularly, but it is just so tricky in print to be sure!

And yes, The Husband is always a suspect.
