Jermaine is Dead

So sad. Right after our trip to beautiful So- Be with all the sun and the warm and the pretty, we came back home to a snowfall in Wisconsin. When we got home, the first night I fired up Jermaine the Hot Water Bottle and the next morning I thought I noticed some dampness. Sure enough the next night there was more dampness. Then I tested it out over the sink and slurp! Water coming out. Tragic.

Jermaine Jackson is safe (I assume) wearing a scarf somewhere in California, in case anyone thought that might not be the case. I bought a new hot water bottle today. I was going to give the whole thing up seeing as spring is coming. However, spring in this state is slow. Short bus slow. And my feet were freezing so bad last night I fired up the electric heating pad until I realized my toes should not be buzzing and the thing had indeed shorted out. Sigh. Heavy sigh. Things conspire against me, I swear.

So I need a new Jackson to name the new hot water bottle after. I was thinking Son of Jermaine, but that seems a bit cumbersome. Tito, I am sorry but Tito is kind of  pervy. So he is out. Any deceased Jackson's are out, I don't want my bed haunted. So that leaves, Jackie, Marlon, Randy, and Joseph. Jackie's real name is Sigmund, and I kind of like that.  Randy's real name is Steven, which has possibilities. What do y'all think?

  1. I like Jackie, because of the Sigmund connection, and Sigmund is of course, tied to Freud, and you always need a little Freud in your bed.

  2. I vote for Steven, because if you name it Steven, nobody will tie it to the Jacksons. They get more publicity then they need anyway.

  3. I say Randy. Cuz he's randy, baby. lol

  4. I vote for Sigmund. Not everybody gets a Sigmund in bed with them!

  5. Stevie. I'm very affectionate with my hot bottle.

  6. Well now, I am thinking Marlon is the funny one, if I am remembering my Jackson Family Dynasty correctly. Funny is always welcome.

I go back and forth with Sigmund! It could be good or bad to have him in the bed ya know what I mean!

Then I like Randy, for the Randy reason. Steven Randall sounds nice but again, cumbersome. It's a tricky situation!

  7. I vote Jermaine 2, kind of like when the family dog passes and the name just keeps applying to the next fur friend. Not that we have done that but for some reason it seems to be a good idea to me. Plus Jermaine 2 kind of rolls off the tongue and you had success with Jermaine 1 before the link and all. Just sayin. :-)

  8. And, condolences on the passing of Jermaine. He must've been sickly. I've never known a water bottle to be so short-lived!

  9. What do I think? I think you're a couple flakes short of a snowball! LOL! :)

  10. Sigmund. Who wouldn't want a Sigmund? :)

    RIP Jermaine....

  11. I think it's time for a new Jackson generation. How about Blanket? In bed and all......just sayin.

  12. Sigmund is my vote...but I'm thinking of the brothers in the James Herriott books...so perhaps you'd better stick with Marlon, which is nice as well. Sigmund is definitely sexier tho'

  13. I think Sigmund is appropriate, because it makes me think of Sigmund Freud and deep issues going on with your need to name your water bottle.

  14. So sorry to hear of Jermaine, why not cross over and go with Latoya?

  15. Kate- I have issues with instructions in that I read them and then consider them a "starting point" or more of a suggestion. So I have been boiling water in a tea pot to use in it. Bad idea, fyi. But really warm! The instructions say warm tap water- umm, no way.
Annie I almost went there, then deleted it!
I considered some offspring actually, then I could use Prince which would continue in the Jackson Family Dynasty while simultaneously honoring the greatest musician evah, Prince. Maybe when I need a new one.

Several of you seem to think this is weird. Why do you suppose that is and how does it make you feel?

  16. Oh, I'm right there with you--both on the instructions as a starting point AND on the boiling water. Of course it needs to be boiling! Actually, that may be why I've got flakes of rubber peeling out every time I empty it, come to think of it...

Warm tap water? SERIOUSLY? Um, no. Right now I use the near-boiling water on my (provided-by-school) water cooler thingy. Nice.

AND, I agree that *all* experts should be experts--child experts, car experts, hairdressers... Don't get me started on kindergarten teachers.

  18. So I was totally coming here to vote Sigmund... but then I saw how few votes Marlon got and I'm worried he'll feel left out/unwanted... and hasn't he had enough of that in real life already?

    So I say Marlon, definitely.

Also, I don't have an issue with you naming your water bottles after the Jackson brothers... just really curious as to why?

  19. Dreag, the answer is totally boring! I had a full body pillow when I was pregnant and I thought if anything was sharing my bed it should have a name, so, Sarge. Then when the water bottle came along I happened to be watching the Jackson's reality show. I noticed Jermaine wearing 3 layers of scarves in southern California, hence Jermaine. Now, it seems like I should keep up the legacy.
Actually one of my cats just discovered it last night and fought me for it for hours. He seriously is still there, on the water bottle over blankets and stuff of course. So maybe I should call it Bailey's Bottle lol!
